The VoiceXML Forum is building a conformance
testing and branding program for VoiceXML.
The goal of this program is to develop quantifiable testing methods
and procedures for VoiceXML to ensure interoperability between
platforms, tools, and applications from all vendors, and clear
identification of compliance to the specification. Until the branding
program is in place, refer to the VoiceXML
Forum's "compliance" trademark statement.
We strongly encourage your participation in defining this program.
For information on our plans, see the VoiceXML
Forum Conformance Activities overview (PDF) presented at the
VoiceXML Forum's First
Annual Users Group Meeting.
Sample Documents Project
As an initial step towards a VoiceXML
Conformance test suite, the Conformance Committee has created
a set of VoiceXML sample documents.
More sample documents will be added in the near future to include
new language features as VoiceXML evolves.
The goals of the VoiceXML Forum Sample Documents project are:
- provide sample code and documentation to demonstrate VoiceXML
functionality, as a precurser to a conformance test suite
- compare platform behavior as a way of clarifying language
semantics
- "living" examples to explain any future language changes
as VoiceXML evolves
Each sample was made simple enough to understand what is being tested,
but complete enough to be self-contained tests. These code samples
are for illustrative purposes only and are provided on an "AS-IS"
basis.

Promoter or Sponsor Members of the VoiceXML Forum can participate
in developing the Conformance Program by joining the Forum's Conformance
Committee. The Committee works via email and weekly teleconferences,
and plans to have a face-to-face meeting in the near future.
The VoiceXML Forum will be releasing an RFP in the near future
seeking parties interested in managing the certification process
and building the VoiceXML test suite. Any organizations interested
in reviewing the RFP when it becomes available should contact
the Conformance Committee Chair.
