Dr. Judith A. Markowitz, Ph.D., is recognized internationally as one of the leading independent analysts in speech and speaker recognition. She is also known for her work on lexical-semantic networks. For over 20 years, she has provided technical and strategic consulting to clients, such as Motorola, FNMA, and Novell.
Dr. Markowitz is the president of J. Markowitz, Consultants and the Technology Editor of Speech Technology Magazine. She’s a member of the editorial review board of the International Journal of Speech Technology, the advisory board of the International Biometric Industry Association, and the VoiceXML Biometric SIG. In 2003, the readers of Speech Technology Magazine named her one of the top ten leaders in speech processing.

Bill Meisel, president, TMA Associates, is publisher and editor of Speech Strategy News and a consultant on market and product opportunities created by the maturing of speech technology. His experience in speech technology includes founding and running a speech recognition company. As an independent consultant since 1991, he is a well-know industry analyst and has been a frequent speaker at industry events. He is the editor of a 2006 book on the Voice User Interface. Meisel has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from USC and published a textbook on pattern recognition.

Dan Miller has over 20 years experience in marketing, business development and corporate strategy for telecom service providers, computer makers and application software developers. Dan founded Opus Research in 1985 and helped define the Conversational Access Technologies marketplace by authoring scores of reports, advisories and newsletters addressing business opportunities that reside where automated speech leverages Web services, mobility and enterprise software infrastructure.
As Director of the New Electronic Media Program at LINK Resources from 1980-1983, he helped define one of the first continuous advisory services in the information industry. He then held management positions at Atari, Warner Communications and Pacific Telesis Group.
Dan founded Opus Research, Inc. and published Telemedia News & Views, a highly regarded monthly newsletter regarding developments in voice processing and intelligent network services. He served as editor-in-chief of The Kelsey Report, where he also oversaw the launch of advisory services on local online commerce, voice and wireless commerce and global directories. He participated in consulting projects in call center-based commerce, voice-based communications and enhanced networking for clients that included Ameritech, AT&T Wireless, Sun Microsystems, GTE, Nortel, U S WEST, R.R. Donnelley, Pacific Bell and a number of entrepreneurial firms.
Dan received a BA from Hampshire College and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. He has been quoted in Speech Technology Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Wired, CommWeb and elsewhere. He has also provided commentary on CNN and TechTV.
