What is a VoiceXML Platform? VoiceXML platforms are hardware and software solutions for deploying VoiceXML applications. They typically integrate speech recognition, speech synthesis, VoiceXML processing, media playback, and telephony into a complete package for deployment in a company’s IT infrastructure or in a VoiceXML hosting company’s data centers. These platforms may also provide software for easily managing their operations, administration, and maintenance. Full-featured VoiceXML platforms support automated fail-over and recovery to minimize the number of dropped calls in the event of a system failure. VoiceXML Forum Certified Platform Many of the VoiceXML platforms listed below have been certified through the VoiceXML Forum's Platform Certification Program and conform to the W3C VoiceXML 2.0 specification. The goals of the VoiceXML Forum Platform Certification Program are to:

• Ensure interoperability of platforms, voice service providers, tools, and applications
• Reduce customer confusion over language support and compatibility
• Provide a common test suite available to the entire industry
• Provide certified, third-party independent testing

The VoiceXML Forum Platform Certification Program is open to all vendors who wish to have their products tested.
