The VoiceXML Forum is open to any
company interested in supporting the development and promotion
of VoiceXML as an open, broadly supported markup language to enable
speech-based applications and Internet information and content
becoming voice and phone accessible.
The Forum is comprised of three membership
levels: Sponsors,
Promoters and Supporters.
Companies may join the VoiceXML Forum
as a Promoter or Supporter, and may be nominated as a Sponsor.
Becoming a VoiceXML Forum Member will give you the opportunity
to participate in the Forum's activities to support the development,
implementation, and promotion of VoiceXML as a standard method
for providing voice access to Internet content and services.

Sponsor Members include Founder Members
AT&T, IBM, Lucent and Motorola, and additional industry leaders
Hewlett-Packard, Nuance, Oracle, Verizon, VoiceGenie and West
Corporation. The VoiceXML Forum Board of Directors is comprised
of one voting representative from each Sponsor Member.
Promoter level membership costs US$5,000
per year. Promoter Members have voting rights in the committees
and working groups established by the Forum's Technical Council
and Marketing Committee, and have the right to submit technology
proposals for consideration in accordance with the Forum's
Intellectual Property Rights Contribution Policy. Each Promoter
Member, while in good standing, shall be entitled to designate
one voting representative and an alternate representative to vote
on each matter submitted to a vote in the working groups and committees.
Promoters are entitled to all rights and privileges of the Supporter
Member. In addition, Promoters are entitled to:
- Participate in the technical and marketing activities of the
Forum, by participating in committees and working groups that
may be formed by the Forum's Technical Committee and Marketing
Committee from time to time to address technical and marketing
issues.
- Attend meetings of the Forum's Technical Council without voting
rights
- Attendance and voting rights on committees and working groups
established by the Forum's Technical Council
- Ability to chair working group subcommittees
- Attend Annual and member meetings
- Propose and Submit technical contributions
- Access to members-only section of web site (under development)
- Receive minutes and draft documents via members-only e-mail
lists
- Ability to participate in VoiceXML Forum sponsored events
and meetings
Supporter level membership costs a nominal
fee of US$500 per year. Becoming a supporter gives an early
access to review the specification and other documentation. There
will also be VoiceXML Forum conferences arranged where supporters
are encouraged to participate. Supporter members are not entitled
to any voting or attendance privileges in the VoiceXML Forum working
groups, committees, subcommittees, etc. However, at the discretion
of a Working Group chair, Supporter members may attend and contribute
to such working group meetings and participate in works in progress.
Each Supporter Member shall also be entitled to:
- Public listing of membership on Forum's web site and printed
membership materials
- Subscription to a VoiceXML members-only / Supporters e-mail
list where Supporters receive early access to information (e.g.,
draft specifications, public meeting announcements).
- Supporter Members have the opportunity to provide comments
and feedback without voting rights.
